This policy explains what personal data ticino.io collects when you visit ticino.io, why, and what your rights are. It applies under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for visitors from the EU and EEA, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible
The controller for this website is ticino.io. For any privacy question or request, write to [email protected].
Hosting and server logs
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which protects it against attacks and speeds up loading. When you visit a page, Cloudflare and our servers process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure (legitimate interest). Logs are kept only as long as needed for these purposes.
Analytics
We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes data such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type. Where consent is required, analytics only runs after you agree in the consent banner.
Advertising
We show ads through Google AdSense to fund the site. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, measure their performance and, if you agree, personalise them based on your interests. Visitors from Switzerland, the EU and the UK are asked for consent through Google's consent banner before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time using the "Privacy and cookie settings" link that the banner provides.
Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services, or manage personalised ads in your Google ad settings.
Affiliate links
Some links, such as accommodation on Booking.com and tours on GetYourGuide, are affiliate links. If you book through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. We do not pass any personal data to these companies. Once you click through, their own privacy policies apply, and they may set cookies to attribute the booking to us.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address with our email provider Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) to send it to you. We use it only for the newsletter, based on your consent. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to delete your address at any time.
Ratings
When you rate a place, we store only the page and the score. We do not store your IP address or any other personal data with it.
External content and links
Some images are loaded from partner websites, and many pages link to restaurants, attractions and tourism offices. When your browser loads such content or you follow a link, the other site receives your IP address and its own privacy policy applies.
Transfers abroad
Google and Cloudflare may process data in the United States and other countries. These transfers rely on the Swiss-US and EU-US Data Privacy Frameworks or on standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can ask for access to the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to its processing, withdraw consent, and receive your data in a portable format. To do so, write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
Changes
We may update this policy when the site or the services we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
